REACHABLE PROTECTS YOUR CONTACTS AND DOES NOT SHARE THEM WITH ANYONE.

SOME PEOPLE CALL THAT BAD BUSINESS!  (SEE, EVERYBODY ASKS FOR YOUR CONTACTS AND THEN RESELLS THEM TO OTHERS OR USES THEM IN WAYS THAT WOULD REALLY MAKE YOU MAD.)

WE THINK WE FOUND THE SECRET FORMULA TO MAKE “CONTACT COLLABORATION” WORK SO THAT YOU CAN LEVERAGE A POOL OF CONTACTS FROM MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITHOUT ANYONE ACTUALLY GIVING OR SHOWING THEIR CONTACTS TO ANYONE ELSE. (YES, IT’S PURE MAGIC!)

HERE’S HOW WE DO IT.

  1. We understand that our users feel that their relationships are their lifeline.  Sure, they connect with tons of people on LinkedIn but the good contacts are not in their LinkedIn contacts.  Many still keep their contacts on spreadsheets, in their Outlook or Gmail, or on a mobile phone backed-up religiously.  Do they input their contacts into their company CRM? Nope.  Once they are in the CRM, these contacts become “Company property” and good luck getting them back!  It’s the usual nonsense about who do these contacts belong to…
  2. Reachable is a hosting platform for your Contacts from any source — LinkedIn, Gmail, Outlook, spreadsheets and more — that is entirely under your control. Whatever goes in that account is yours.  Not your company’s property, nor Reachable, nor any of our other users or clients.  When you upload a file to DropBox, do they share that file with their millions of users? Of course not!  That’s the way we feel too.  It’s your data and it stays put.
  3. What then do we do with your data? If like me you have been in business development all your life, you must have opened your contacts and just scrolled for anyone that could be useful right now, on something you are working on.  Reachable automates that work.  If you are looking for an entree to a company or a person you have identified, or doing a background check on someone, you can search in Reachable to see if your uploaded contacts can help.  But how does Reachable know that? Well, when you upload contacts we immediately start to work on matching your contacts to our gigantic graph of people and companies.  Then we discover who are these people you know, where do they work, where did they work, where did they go to school, etc, and we can literally stitch together a “path” from you to your “target” through people you know.  What took you hours we do in seconds.  Since there are likely many such “paths” we use algorithms to recommend the best.  Wait, what if you have 50 targets? Well, create a List on Reachable and we will do that analysis on the entire List in seconds too. And keep doing it every day so long as you subscribe.
  4. What’s a Reachable Team then? How can you team up with others without giving away all your contacts to the members of the Team? When you join the Team, all you are doing is allowing Reachable’s search engine to expand its search for a good “path.”  Instead of just looking into my contacts and stitching paths based on my contacts only, the members of my Team are allowing the Reachable search engine to look at their contacts and use them to stitch paths. But we constrain the search results to specifically hide all useful contact data — like email and phone number — about your Team’s contacts.  So, all you see is that a member of your Team, say Jennifer, has in her contacts a person that you are looking to connect with.  That’s it. If you want the phone number or email address, you must ask Jennifer.  Bottom line, in a Team, we never show the contact data that you have.  We just signal other Team members that, yes, you know that person.  Going back to the DropBox analogy, imagine you could search the DropBox of a colleague but had to ask the colleague to allow you to read the document or to download it.  Reachable is similar.

If you understand this, you know all there is to know about data privacy in Reachable.  The platform is designed so as not to do all the illegal or unethical things everybody else does.  Were not stupid, we think this is a great business and that we are going to change the way companies work by creating Teams for entire companies or departments to safely collaborate around contacts and drive productivity through the roof!

If you have any questions about our data privacy practices, just contact me.  I am the CEO and keeping your data yours always is my priority.
